Before the revised budget is passed, the government intends to implement the law on the so-called fiscal rule. The golden fiscal rule was written in the constitution back in 2013.
However, with the revisions, spending decreased by 20 million euros to 8.6 billion euros, while consumption increased by 177 million euros to 9.8 billion euros. As a result, the deficit is increasing by 197 million euros to 1.2 billion euros, which is 3.4 percent of Slovenia’s gross domestic product.
The government has made it clear that this year could be carried out without a supplementary budget, but wants to show the transparent implementation of the budget.
