The data show that tax revenue stemming from the introduction of cash registers increased by almost EUR 14 million at value added tax (VAT), and by approximately seven million euros at personal income tax. "In total the amount indicates the annual level of EUR 75 million, as predicted in the budget. Thus the law and its implementation have brought the planned results," Finance Minister Dušan Mramor explained.
The purpose of the law on fiscal verification of invoices is to reduce grey economy and illegal employments, but also to assure more just payment of taxes, and thus increase tax revenues, Minister Mramor explained, and said "It looks both goals will be achieved."
Less illegal employments
Mramor is also satisfied with data on illegal employments, as in the first four months the number of persons with social insurance increased by more than 22 thousands, and almost 10,000 of those have tax-certified cash registers.
The statements that business entities had to close, and that their number has diminished, are absurd according to Minister. The data clearly show that their number increased in the period from the end of the last year until the end of March this year, and it happened in all categories, including private entrepreneurs, associations and non-profit organisations.
"In short I can say that for now, according to data, this law has reached its goal," Mramor finished, and praised the work of the employees of the Financial Administration (Furs) and Ministry of Finance.
