On Thursday (Oct 9), the government decided to replace the existing brigadier general of the Slovenian army Dobran Božič. Today, the Defence Ministry held an official ceremony handing over the war flag to the new Chief of the General Staff Andrej Osterman.
Osterman had been Božič's deputy for years, so no major changes are expected in terms of further development of the Slovenian Armed Forces.
The new Chief is assuming command over more than 7,200 members of the Slovenian army.
According to him, it is necessary that the army's performance in the field of protection and rescue is improved, especially after Slovenia witnessed disastrous sleet and floods this year.
