The investment cost more than six million euros; a half of the funds were assured by the European Union, and the rest by the hospital and the state. The centre is completely equipped, but the first patients will be admitted only in February, due to administrative barriers, reported TV Slovenija journalist Ksenija Černuta.
The new emergency centre is a great achievement for the region, as it will allow treatment of medical emergencies in one place, as it literally brings a doctor to a patient, said Nataša Fikfak, the acting manager of the Šempeter Hospital. They also got all modern equipment for the emergency ward, so that they will be able to start working immediately.
They expect to start working in February, when the Medical Emergency Ward will move from the Medical Centre Nova Gorica to the hospital. An emergency mobile team will remain in the medical centre Nova Gorica, while the location of the emergency paediatrics is still being negotiated. The duty pharmacy will also move to Šempeter, next to the existing pharmacy in Šempeter.
