Elan says it will focus on the development of the Elan brand and on key markets for winter sports. Its ambition is be to become the "most innovative brand of Alpine skis".
The die has not yet been cast
"We wish to find a buyer that would take over the jumping skis program and continue with the successful production on the basis of our long-time experience and gained knowledge," said the Elan management. A final deal is to be revealed when and if the management succeeds to reach an agreement on the continued production of jumping skis.
Prevc and Takanashi with Elan skis
Last season Slovenian ski jumper Peter Prevc won the World Cup with a record number of points using Elan jumping skis. He also won the Four Hills Tournament and also became the world champion in ski flying. The winner of the women's World Cup was Sara Takanashi who also jumped with Elan skis. If no one takes over Elan's jumping ski program, both Prevc and Takanashi will have to search for other suppliers.
