The first of May was the first time he set foot on the stage of the International Exhibition Centre in Kiev. Omar Naber was pleased with his first rehearsal: "The team which planned our performance did a fantastic job. We still have to correct some things, but we’ll polish up our performance by Friday, when we have our second rehearsal," is what he said at a press-conference after the rehearsal.
The next day the Slovenian representative took a few hours to discover the host city, which really impressed him: "I feel very good in Kiev. The spirit of the city - powerful and warm - is very close to my heart. Kiev has also impressed me with its excellent food, which has only added to my good feeling."
Omar was also invited to a meeting with the Slovenian Ambassador to Ukraine, Nataša Prah, which informed him about the current situation in Ukraine. They also touched on Omar’s preparations for his performance, and the changes that have happened in the Ukraine since Omar’s last performance in Kiev, back in 2005.
On the invitation of his colleagues from Montenegro, Omar Naber also performed at a party organized by the Montenegro Eurovision team. Alongside the hosts and the representatives of Serbia, Macedonia and Croatia, Omar Naber also thrilled those present with his performance.
The Slovenian team was pleased with the second stage rehearsal for the Eurovision Song Contest. On Saturday, which was actually Omar’s free day, he gave interviews. Later that evening he also accepted a party invitation from the Australian representative Isaiah.
Performing 17th in the first semi-final
On Sunday, together with the other performers at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Omar took part in the official opening ceremony and walked the red carpet. On Monday he had a performance evaluated by expert juries and tonight his fate will be in the hands of viewers from all across Europe. Only ten from tonight’s 18 performers will qualify for the big final on Saturday.
