In 1870 the construction works begin on the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. The main architect John Augustus Roebling crushed his foot while controlling construction and due to gangrene died. He was succeeded by his son Washington, who as result of work under water got decompression sickness. Finally, Washington's wife Emily Warren took over. The three of them created an unprecedented masterpiece.
