The highest weather warning has been issued due to heavy rain forecast, however it is not yet possible to predict which regions will be most affected.

The Environmental Agency (Arso) has issued for Thursday the highest weather warning due to expected heavy rainfall in the coming days, while for hydrologic hazard orange level is valid.

In the night from Wednesday to Thursday rain will gradually spread across the large part of the country, and the expected large quantity of precipitation and consequent swelling of rivers might cause troubles. Thursday will be rainy, with occasional storms and downpours. In the southern and Central Slovenia 50 to 100 litres of rain per square metre could fall, locally even more.

During the night the rivers might swell considerably due to expected intensive precipitations, especially in the northeastern and southeastern part of Slovenia, in the upper basin of the River Soča, in the Gorica Hills, in the river basins of the Vipava and the Reka. During Thursday rivers will continue to swell through central, northern and southern Slovenia. Some rivers might rise considerably, namely those watercourses rising in the Kamnik Savinje Alps, and the pre-alpine hills of the Julian Alps, and in the regions of Koroško, Zasavje, and Notranjska.
