It was not immediately revealed that the man was infected with the measles virus. That is why the Paediatric Hospital, in cooperation with epidemiologists, has been looking for all those, especially children, who have come in contact with the parent at the hospital. Children, treated at the Paediatric Hospital, are especially vulnerable as illnesses and medications weaken their immunity. Around 250 people who have come in contact with the parent have already been identified.

The incubation period is between 5 and 21 days. Whether the swift reaction has managed to stop the spreading of the virus will be known on the 25th of January. The current vaccination coverage against measles in Slovenia is at around 90 percent.
