Prevc had a bit of a wait before his final jump, when the wind at the bottom of the hill picked up speed leaving two best jumpers from the 1st round still on top. Kenneth Gangnes failed to withstand the pressure and landed at 209.5m, which placed him behind the excellent Robert Kranjec, whose second jump measured 226.5m.
Prevc had the final “say” in who the winner would be. He performed another excellent flight, landing at 230m with impeccable telemark and beat Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang by 18.2 points. His closest rival in the overall standings in the World Cup Severin Freund was fifth.
Another three Slovenians participated in the final series: Jurij Tepeš took 12th place, Anže Lanišek was 21st, and 29th place went to Jaka Hvala. Andraž Pograjc and Tomaž Naglič didn’t make the finals.
Prevc very satisfied with his jumps
“My jumps today were fantastic. I didn’t jump so perfectly yesterday. The jump in the trial round was not that good, but I was able focus in the competition and performed better then. In the final there was a lot of waiting because of the wind. I knew I would need a better take-off,” said Prevc straight after the match when asked to describe his performance.
