Those who visited the festival were also able to try some of the artisan skills themselves, such as lacemaking, pottery, knitting bast and straw, stonemasonry, knitting baskets out of rods, carving models for Loka’s little honey breads, making pots as well as knitting straw braids and the Styrian fence out of willow rods.
The event was visited by President Borut Pahor, who is also the honorable sponsor of celebrations related to the 25th edition of ‘Days of European cultural heritage’ in Slovenia, during which the artisan festival took place. In his speech, Pahor expressed a wish that in 2115 the 100th Slovenian artisan festival would be organized, reported the President’s Bureau.
“I wish a hundred years from now our grandchildren will be able to admire the extraordinary opus of Slovenian cultural heritage, which left a deep imprint on our national character,” pointed out Pahor and congratulated the participants for their efforts in preserving Slovenian artisan heritage.
