Mr Sevšek denied the writings of the Finance news portal that the coalition leaders would “certainly discuss replacing the Minister of Defense Roman Jakič” at today's meeting with the Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek.
Limit for resignation: criminal complaint
“The limit for resignation has been set: a criminal complaint,” added Sevšek. NPU has filed criminal charges against Ljubljana’s mayor Zoran Jankovič as well as Roman Jakič, Samo Lozej, Uroš Ogrin and Zlatko Sraka due to an alleged scam in obtaining a loan for the Stožice project.
SD will not strain the situation
“The issue of Minister Roman Jakič will certainly be opened at today’s meeting, but we won’t demand his resignation. We won’t strain the situation. First we’ll give the minister himself the opportunity and then the Prime Minister,” told Igor Lukšič to MMC before the coalition meeting that started at noon.
The National Investigation Bureau (NPU) has charged Jankovič, Minister of Defense Roman Jakič, former CEOs of Grep Uroš Ogrin and Zlatko Sraka as well as former CEO of Ljubljana’s parking facilities company Samo Lozej, who was appointed as the CEO of a joint energy company Energetika Ljubljana-Termoelektrarna Toplarna Ljubljana.
Charges the result of house searches in 2012
NPU’s charges are the result of house searches performed in late September 2012 and December 2013. The five suspects have been charged with the suspicion of signing an allegedly fictive contract worth EUR 1,8m for an annual rent of parking spaces and other areas at Stožice, based on which Grep company obtained a EUR 50m loan from Nova Ljubljanska banka.
