On Friday evening, the driver made a sudden turn into a dead-end street when he noticed a police car. The police followed the vehicle and caught up to it in an abandoned parking lot.
In addition to the 38-year-old driver, a citizen of Serbia, the vehicle was also occupied by his 31-year old female partner, a citizen of Bulgaria, and their daughter, a minor. Police discovered that the driver was an unregistered resident of Celje, while his partner was a registered temporary resident of Celje.
When inspecting the vehicle, police discovered a large suitcase in the trunk. The suitcase contained 10 packages of very pure cocaine, which can bring in up to 100 euros per gram on the market. The value of the seized cocaine is, according to the police, at least half a million euros.
The driver and his partner were arrested, but the latter was released after the police conducted a search of their home. The 38-year-old suspect was formally charged and brought in front of an investigating judge, who ordered the man to be taken into custody.
The suspect faces from one to ten years in prison.
