Slovenia is investigating whether he had already been judged by the Haag Tribunal for the actions for which Serbia has been searching for him, and for which he had been acquitted. It is common knowledge that Haradinaj had been arrested based on the Interpol Beograd arrest warrant from 2004. On Wednesday evening he was interrogated by the investigative judge in Kranj, and released. In the meantime his party the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo announced protests in front of the Slovenian Embassy in Pristina which will continue until Haradinaj's release.
The presidents of the Kosovo and Slovenian government, Isa Mustafa and Miro Cerar, today discussed Haradinaj's case by phone, while already on Wednesday the president of the republic Borut Pahor spoke with his Kosovo colleague Atifete Jahjaga. Isa Mustafa said that the Slovenian Prime Minister promissed a shortened court proceedings in the case of Ramush Haradinaj; Haradinaj was twice acquitted at the Haag Tribunal due to lack of evidence for war crimes. Mustafa believes that proves that Haradinaj is innocent, and hopes that such incidents won't happen in future. PM Cerar did say that the court proceedings in Slovenia will be completed in the shortest time possible, but in compliance with the legislation, and the obligations Slovenia has against Interpol, Radio Slovenia reported.
In November 2012 Haradinaj, the former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, was acquitted by the Haag Tribunal of all charges of committing war crimes during the 1998 and 1999 conflict in Kosovo.
