The rally started in front of the entrance to the Port of Koper. Supporters from all over Slovenia were brought to Koper by buses, and the rally was directed against the government, as the port employees pointed at the detrimental actions performed by the government.
The president of the works council of the Port of Koper Mirko Slosar explained that it was actually an expanded session of the works council, where five demands were adopted. By Thursday they expect their demands to be fulfilled, namely a new port entrance, expansion of the national spatial plan of the Port of Koper, adoption of the Port of Koper development programme for the period until 2020, and immediate dismissal and sanctioning of those responsible for the present situation within the Porto f Koper.
The rally message, according to the president of the Trade Union Confederation 90 Peter Majcen, is that "it is high time to end plundering and elitist activities of certain circles which consider our economy their private interest nook with the sole purpose of increasing their personal wealth". He advised the president of the government Miro Cerar "to act immediately in order to stop such unreasonable proposals, and to dismiss those who are responsible for the damage the Port is most certainly suffering, otherwise the things could escalate into severe political crisis ".
Gašperšič is bothered by reproaches
The minster of infrastructure Peter Gašperšič in the Studio ob 17 show explained that during the last months he number of meetings had been held with the representatives of the Port, thus rejecting the reproaches expressed by the Port of Koper workers. He explained that the lease contract for the building plot for the third pier had been sent to the Port already in March, thus complying with the Port wish to build a parking place there, but no answer has been given yet. The two entrances into the Port, from Sermin and from Bertoki, is much more complicated problem due to the dispersed land ownership structure, but they had already prepared some solutions, including the one regarding the Bertoki access road, but the Port of Koper will have to propose their own solutions. "It's their move now," he added.
