Yet prosciutto is only a part of the attraction luring more and more Slovenians, and also foreigners, to Uroš and Nejka Klinec to Plešivo. In the last two years the homestead they have built there became an almost obligatory stop for visitors to the Brda hills.
The second part of the attraction are practically all the other meat products – it is rather difficult to single out only one favourite – and the third part is the modern interior. Thanks to the artists’ colony the Klinec family has been hosting since 1997, their homestead became a live gallery. And the last, but not the least important part is the terrace decorated with pots planted with lemon trees, olive trees and rhododendrons, strings of lights under the pergola, and a pool in the corner of the green. It is not surprising that the Klinec terrace lately became one of the most longed-for locations for weddings. In the past they hosted up to ten weddings per season; this year they already have 12 reservations.
Their dishes are based on seasonal and local produce. Uroš and Nejka never wander much further than Tolmin and Idrija. "We concentrate on local produce. We have our own meat products, we offer stone-ground bio-rye and spelt cereal, wild asparagus from the local meadows and woods, vegetables we need come from the neighbouring farms, we have natural juices – apple, elderflower or mint, grandmother Draga makes marmalades… We support local, healthy, and bio food. We use Slovenian stone-ground natural flour, and all dairy products come from the local farms," Nejka explains.
No wonder that almost all the weekends until October are booked.
