In 1908 the famous pavilion had been constructed in Ljubljana, mainly due to the endeavours by Rihard Jakopič. Half a century later it was demolished on account of the plans for the railway line. Now only the sculpture of the ingenious painter reminds us of the Jakopič Pavilion which used to stand at the edge of Tivoli. Exhibition grounds for architects, landscape architects, and urbanists
At the Kresija Gallery the exhibition “Vision 10: Non-existing exhibition grounds” has been prepared. The interpretation of the Jakopič Pavilion deals with all the phases of the planned reconstruction of the pavilion, complete with the model of the pavilion on a one-to-one scale to be erected in Tivoli.

The pavilion would allow completion of the axis of cultural institutes and exhibition grounds along the city promenade, thus attracting visitors to the less frequented regions of the Tivoli Park.

After the Second World War, during which the building was closed due to cultural silence, it was revived. In 1954 it was renovated, and a number of attention-grabbing exhibitions were held there. In 1962 the single storey building was demolished due to the construction of the railway track, despite avid protests of the citizens. During five decades more than two hundred exhibitions have been prepared at the Jakopič Pavilion, from the fields of painting, sculpture, graphic design, photography, architecture…
