The aim of the Valvasor International Graphic Days, being held at the Bogenšperk castle, is to remind of the important beginnings of graphic work in Slovenia. The event also reminds of the important and rich artwork in the field of graphics today.
Valvasor's graphic workshop was the first of its kind in Slovenia. Karmen Štrancar Rajevec, from Radio Slovenija, reported in the second morning news program that almost all of the copperplate engravings, printed in some of his most important works, including in “The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola”, were created in the workshop.
The first graphic workshop on Slovene soil
"After 326 years, Valvasor's graphic workshop, which was the first of its kind on Slovene soil, is alive again. Janez Vajkard Valvasor set up the workshop at the Bogenšperk castle. At his own expense he provided for all the copperplate engravings, all the printers and designers," said the director of the Bogenšperk public institute, Joži Vovk.
