The complex is situated at the foot of Uršlja gora, close to the once popular Ivarčko jezero lake with recreational areas, above Kotlje with the museum dedicated to the writer Prežihov Voranc. After the agreement with a Russian investor who had planned to renovate the complex left to ruin for several years and to add a medical centre failed, the municipal councillors will again decide on the sale of the complex at the May session. The municipality would like to find an investor who would initiate the tourist development based on the given possibilities of the area. Both the building and the surroundings are in need of renovation.
Water with beneficial effects travelled across the Atlantic as well
Roman ruins were found at the Rimski vrelec area in 1877, which gave the name to the area. The beneficial effects of mineral water which is today accessible to public within the complex were known already in the Roman period. The water from Rimski vrelec rich with iron was successfully marketed in Europe and even in America more than a century ago.
Mineral water was "responsible" for building of the complex and the development of the area. The former hotel was built in 1896 by the Schütz family, and in the next four decades the owners of the complex developed the spa tourism in connection with the possibilities for sport activities. During the Second World War the building housed the Gestapo headquarters, and after the was the building was nationalized.
