Sculptor, painter and graphic artist Janez Boljka died yesterday at the age of 82. He was born in Subotica and his family moved to Ljubljana after WWII. There he graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Among many other famous works he is well known for a bronze buffalo in front of the Ljubljana ZOO and a bust of painter Rihard Jakopič. He also co-authored the national side of Slovenian euro coins. In 1988 he received the Prešeren Prize for his life achievements, the highest award in culture in Slovenia. Boljka's permanent exhibition has been on display in the Božidar Jakac Gallery in Kostanjevica na Krki since 1994.
