The referendum question would be along the lines of: “Should the Slovenian National Assembly pass legislation limiting the number of people seeking international protection so as to not exceed the number of applications for international protection in 2015?”
The SDS deputy group on Friday proposed a non-binding referendum on the accommodation of migrants in Slovenia.
SDS MP Vinko Gorenak called for the decision to be put to the people in a countrywide referendum under Article 26 of the Referendum and Popular Initiative Act.
According to the Interior Ministry, a total of 277 people sought asylum in Slovenia in 2015.
