Second defendant in the Patria corruption scandal, Anton Krkovič, is scheduled to start serving a 22 month long sentence at the Dob prison today. Krkovič said he wouldn't ask the court for a deferral of the sentence or for an alternative way to serve it.
The third defendant, Ivan Črnkovič, had asked the court to grant him an alternative to jail time, but his plea had been rejected. He plans to appeal the decision. He also asked for a deferral of the sentence and a decision is pending. The three, the first one being SDS head Janez Janša, were found guilty of corruption-related charges in the Patria armoured personnel vehicle case. They need to pay a EUR 37.000 fine each, with additional EUR 6000 of court costs for each of them.
