The players won 89:68 against their Mexican counterparts in the second round of the group D preliminary matches with the brothers Dragić again playing the main role. The younger of the two brothers, 25 year-old Zoran, scored 22 points and thus in this match outdid even his brilliant brother Goran.

With two wins in as many matches, the Slovenian team has secured its place in the eight of the final. The team will nonetheless attempt to avoid finishing fourth in the group, as this would most likely mean they would be matched-up with the reigning world champions United States in the knock-out stage.
