Interior Ministry State Secretary Boštjan Šefic today commented on reports from Croatian media outlets that the flow of migrants would be diverted to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Under this scenario, the refugees would travel on towards Italy, meaning that they would enter Slovenia at the border crossings in the west of the country. Šefic today said at a press conference that there are no indications as of now that this would happen. He believes that the chances of this happening are low due to the difficult terrain and the fact that winter is approaching. He said that flows of migration are like rivers: “If they see obstacles, they go around them.” He added that Slovenia will not be naïve – if the situation presents itself, the country will take the necessary measures.
Šefic also presented some figures on the refugee crisis. On Tuesday, about 5,600 people entered Slovenia. The situation was similar today. As of Tuesday, a total of 65 persons sought asylum in Slovenia. 23 of them were from Iraq, 14 from Iran, 12 from Kosovo, and 7 from Afghanistan. 2 each came from Albania and Nigeria, and 1 each from Cameroon, Morocco, Syria, Serbia and Turkey.
