If prior to the start of the World Cup there were doubts about the Slovenian gameplay and the players' team spirit - a lot was said about the chemistry of the selected players - all doubts were erased in the first quarter. Quickly shaking off their opening nervousness, they played with a fighting spirit, relentless offence and did especially well with good jumps – with which they had problems during preparations.
The captain of the team, Goran Dragić said he was pleased with how the team played. He said the first game was very important, especially against the strong Australian team and that all of the Slovenian team played selflessly and well, concerning the fact that the Australian players are tall. Dragić was the first shooter of the game seeing that he scored 21 points, to which he added seven jumps and four passes.
