More than 691,000 tourist overnight stays and more than 249,000 tourist arrivals were recorded in Slovenia in February 2018. In March more than 786,000 overnight stays and almost 324,000 tourist arrivals were recorded. In both months most overnight stays were generated by tourists from Italy.
In February more than 249,000 tourist arrivals and more than 691,000 tourist overnight stays were recorded in Slovenia. Foreign tourists generated more than 140,000 arrivals and almost 362,000 overnight stays. Domestic tourists generated almost 109,000 arrivals and more than 329,000 overnight stays. Foreign tourists generated 52% of all overnight stays in February.
Almost 325,000 tourist arrivals and more than 786,000 overnight stays were recorded in Slovenia in March 2018. Foreign tourists generated more than 215,000 arrivals and more than 487,000 overnight stays. Domestic tourists generated more than 109,000 arrivals and more than 299,000 overnight stays. Foreign tourists generated 59% of all overnight stays in March.
Tourists from Italy generated the most overnight stays
In February key markets, from which the most foreign tourists who generated the most overnight stays in Slovenia came, were Italy (15% or almost 27,000), Serbia (13%), Croatia (11%), Austria (11%), Hungary (6%) and the United Kingdom (6%).
In March, however, the key markets were Italy (16% or almost 79,000), Austria (14%), Germany (9%), Croatia (8%), Hungary (7%) and Serbia (4%).
In February and March most tourists stayed in hotels
More than 447,000 or 65% of all tourist overnight stays in February 2018 were recorded in hotels, 11% in apartment settlements, 8% in private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings, 3% in company vacation facilities and vacation facilities for youth, 2% in camping sites and 2% in youth hostels.
Almost 489,000 or 62% of all tourist overnight stays in March 2018 were recorded in hotels, 9% in apartment settlements, 7% in private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings, 4% in company vacation facilities and vacation facilities for youth, 4% in youth hostels and 3% in camping sites.
The most overnight stays in February and March in health (spa) and mountain resorts
The highest number of tourist overnight stays in February 2018 (33% or almost 228,000) was recorded in health (spa) resorts, followed by mountain resorts (31%), seaside resorts (11%) and municipality Ljubljana (10%).
Similarly, in March the highest number of tourist overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (30% or almost 237,000), followed by mountain resorts (22%), seaside resorts (17%) and municipality Ljubljana (14%).
