Just outside the Slovenian town of Ajdovščina, a sculpture in the yard of a nondescript home gives some indication of its owner's unusually intense passion. The sculpture is a bust of Elvis Presley and its owner, Oskar Trobec has become famous in Slovenia for his undying devotion to the King of Rock ’n’ Roll.

The interior of Trobec's home is veritable shrine to Elvis. It includes a car with full Elvis regalia, as well as thousands of other objects that Trobec has collected over the years. They include not just a complete collection of Elvis' music on original records, but also all 33 films featuring the King. And then there is Elvis-style clothing and assorted memorabilia with his images - objects ranging from T-shirts to candles. One of the clocks in Trobec's home is set permanently to Memphis time.

Trobec, a retired butcher, loves to share his collection to outsiders, but his devotion to Elvis goes much further. He is a passionate Elvis impersonator, and has made multiple visits to Graceland where, much to his delight, his interpretation of the King received praise for its authenticity. He especially enjoys performing in a jumpsuit of the type Elvis used during his “Aloha” tour of Hawaii.

Elvis even visits Trobec in his dreams. It was after a particularly vivid dream that Trobec decided to commission a bust of Elvis for his yard. He ceremoniously unveiled it on the exact 35th anniversary of Elvis's death - down to the minute. Trobec also regularly corresponds with Elvis's daughter Lisa Marie Presley, with whom he shares his birthday.

Trobec's love of Elvis began when he was a teenager. When he saw a movie starring the King, something clicked, and he has devoted much of the rest of his life to everything Elvis-related. Trobec has even named his first-born son “Elvis,” and his passion appears to be becoming a family affair: Elvis Trobec is a singer and has covered several of the King’s greatest hits.
