According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Slovenia’s pavilion at last year’s Milan Expo is to be re-erected in Murska Sobota.
The Pomurje region is gearing up to rebuild the pavilion in the municipality of Murska Sobota. Money from the municipal budget has already been set aside for the project. Murska Sobota mayor Aleksander Jevšek said that the municipality has been eyeing the building since the first half of 2015. The project is looking to attract 12 million potential visitors within a radius of 300 kilometres.
The site of the structure, which will also include a tourism, culture and sports centre, will serve as a doorway to the Pomurje region. Other regions, e.g. the Raba region in Hungary and other nearby regions in Austria and Croatia, could also be involved in the project. According to Jevšek, the inclusion of other regions would lift the project from mediocrity.
