Garbage collectors and other communal workers competed in fun games such as the Compost – My Friend, the Separator, the Garbage Rally etc.
The results showed that "the teams were close to one another, both in terms of achievements as well as socializing, with their children playing around contentedly". "All in all, I think these first-time games were definitely a success," pointed out Alen Hodnik, CEO of Ptuj Public Utilities.
According to Hodnik, "the companies as well as our society as a whole have become quite closed off, and in the long run this is not a good thing; we need to find a way to overcome this". The chief of Ptuj's municipal services would like to turn the games into a traditional event. His wish is to convince many more companies to participate and, as this year, contribute funds for charity.
"We've gathered 2,000 euros so far and will donate them to primary schools in Ptuj. My idea is to be a role model for other municipalities and cities," explained Marko Soršak, a drummer and initiator of a charity action aimed at collecting money for new music instruments.
All five primary schools in Ptuj – including the school for children with special needs – will receive brand new music instruments.
