After two matches full of suspense and the developments that followed the match against Germany, Slovenia managed to put aside the bitter events connected to bad refereeing decisions and executed its task in the last round of Group C against Montenegro perfectly.
Coach Veselin Vujović's players did not play their best in the first half, but they did raise their game in the second half, which proved to be enough to crush the Montenegrin opponents which are now out of the European Handball Championship.
Macedonia finished on top of Group C, followed by Germany in second and Slovenia in third. That means that Macedonia will advance to the second stage in Varaždin with three points, Germany with two and Slovenia with one.
In Group D, which now mixes with Slovenia's Group C, Denmark, Spain and the Czech Republic will all progress with two points in Varaždin. Eliminated from the tournament, from that group, is Hungary.
