Slovenia took in another group of refugees under an EU relocation program. They arrived in Slovenia from Greece and Italy. The group was accommodated at the Ljubljana Vič asylum center, where their asylum claims will be assessed.
A total of 567 refugees will be transferred to Slovenia under the EU’s relocation plan in 2016 and 2017. Slovenia has so far taken in 61 refugees, all of whom are already attending integration classes. Slovenia’s refugee integration program has proved to be a success, especially for children, and some of them are already fluent in Slovene.
The latest group of refugees consists of two families and five individuals. 13 of them are Syrian nationals, while 5 of them come from Iraq. All of them will take part in an integration course once their asylum claims are processed. Since May, 11 refugee children have been relocated to Slovenia under the EU’s relocation plan.
The Interior Ministry said that another group of refugees (12 Syrian and 2 Iraqi nationals) is due to arrive in Slovenia next week.
