According to the government, the quota was arrived at by taking into account Slovenia's capacity for integration, availability of housing, as well as the country's previous commitments on resettlement.
Slovenia has already taken in 32 asylum seekers from Greece and Italy under the EU's refugee relocation plan, while another group of 32 asylum seekers is expected to arrive in Slovenia within the next two weeks. Another 535 asylum seekers will be relocated to Slovenia under the EU's refugee relocation plan in 2016 and 2017.
Slovenia took in its first group of refugees under the EU's refugee relocation plan in May. The group of 34 Syrians, Iraqis and Eritreans was airlifted from Greece to Slovenia. 12 of them were granted refugee status, and another 11 received subsidiary protection.
A total of 612 individuals have sought international protection in Slovenia in 2016. International protection has been granted to 58 persons, most of them are Afghan, Syrian and Iraqi nationals.
