The Audience Award went to Lorenci for his rendition of the Iliad – a co-production by the SNG Drama Ljubljana theatre, the Mladinsko Gledališče Ljubljana theatre and the Cankarjev dom (Cankar Hall) culture centre. Lorenci also won the Best Director award.

A poetic blend of brutality and subtlety
Lorenci was chosen by a panel of distinguished jurors (Dejan Mijač, Tanja Mandić Rigonat, Vesna Roganović, Borka Golubović Trebješanin and Ana Tasić). They said that his rendition of the Iliad is a captivating dramatic interpretation of the ancient Greek epic poem.

Homer’s Iliad, which centres on the Trojan War, is an epic poem about gods, humans, heroism and suffering. Lorenci’s version bears all the classic hallmarks of his opulent and poetic style. It fuses brutality and subtlety, adding a touch of physical cruelty and suspense.
