Some of the 21 selected creators exhibiting as part of the Pop-up Flat; I feel Design Berlin project are internationally renowned names such as Gorenje, Donar, Odeja and Rex Kralj. Even so, all exhibitors will be represented equally, according to the event organizer, the ROPOT Cultural Association, which plans to organize a children’s workshop, a musical performance, and a food tasting as part of the three-day long open house event.

The goal of the event, which will take place between July 7 and 9 at Winnstraße 68 Hinterhause, is to introduce “young and active Slovenian designers” to a mostly international public. The designers’ work will be compatible with the overall concept of the Berlin apartment, which was conceived by the Slovenian architect Ana Gruden, who works in Berlin, along with Gašperj Arh and Tina Semolič.
In addition to the companies mentioned above, visitors to the apartment will also take a walk among the products by lighting designers BelaBela and Lustr, stools by Klobka, paintings by the academically trained sculptor and painter Mirjam Semolič Sore, coffee tables by Arhimodula, chairs by Stolarna, creative toys by the brands Est=etika and Wood I play, cups by PolonaPolona, umbrella sands, lighting fixtures, and loudspeakers by Aklih, padded versions of chairs by YO, footstools by Luna, lamps by Rondela, as well as birdhouses by Studio Drevo. Also included are chairs by Stolžek, LLstol and a Storž lamp.

Product design will intertwine with the interior design of the apartment under the leadership of Ana Gruden and Architects, as well as with Slovenian visual arts, music, and cuisine, with the goal of creating a pleasant atmosphere that will allow visitors to become ‘residents and shared users’ of the space,” explains the project leader and ROPOT president Rok Avsec. The project was created with the help of the Ministry of Culture, which also part-funds it. Its first reincarnation of the apartment was set up for last year’s Expo in Milan, but never came to life. The initiators of the project then modified the idea and set it up in another world metropolis.
