They were addressed by Minister for Slovenians Abroad Gorazd Žmavc, who said that the awareness of one's origin and past is a condition for a complete present and promising future.

The event was also addressed by outgoing PM Alenka Bratušek, who touched on the different reasons for Slovenians leaving their country.

Today's event also attracted numerous tourists, who had the opportunity to get acquainted with traditional Slovenian crafts, food and culture. It has been estimated that around half a million Slovenians live outside Slovenia, with the largest communities in Italy, the US and Germany.
