PM Miro Cerar explained that the new name proposal has been confirmed by the party council. He added that the new name – the SMC Modern Centre Party – stresses the fact that they are a modern party, which looks to the future and respects the modern courses of how society and people develop, and are also a centrist party, respecting and balancing the different values and ideological backgrounds on all sides of the political spectrum.

The congress in Sežana on the 7th of March will be the party's first regular congress. The party was otherwise established last year on the 2nd of June, a good month before the early parliamentary elections.
