The organizers of the 54th Vitranc Cup competition will be aided by weather; the weather forecast is favourable, which promises another supreme event with excellent conditions on the race track, where the best Alpine skiers will compete just before the end of the World Cup season in Meribel, France.
Crucial data were sent by e-mail
"On the track on which the race will take place there is enough natural and compact snow. As we enjoy the trust of the International Ski Federation, this time the control of snow was quite unusual – it was performed from distance. The actual control was made by the head of the Kranjska Gora competition Aleš Vidic, who sent all the crucial data regarding the thickness and the hardness of the snow foundation, the quality and the tempeartures of snow to the FIS representative Emmanuel Coulder by e-mail," Srečko Medven, the general secretary of the organisational committee of the VItranc Cup expressed his satisfaction at the press conference.
Scheduled for four more years
The confidence in Kranjska Gora as a traditional stop of the world Alpine ski caravan proves also the fact that the term for the Vitranc race is included in the calendar of the World Cup for the next four years. "We are ready for any everything, even for the arrival of tropical heat, but no extraordinary circumstances are predicted, so we are looking forward to another great event," Medven joked.
They would like to become more attractive for domestic fans
There is only one thing the organizers would like to change within the otherwise perfected and organizationally faultlessly carried out competition: they would like to make Vitranc once again attractive for domestic fans. The missing link are domestic competitors who would be able to compete for the five leading positions in both races. Presently the team aces are Žan Kranjec in giant slalom, and Matic Skube in slalom, yet they have never won points in Kranjska Gora.
Free entrance for those carrying a large size flag
The veterans Mitja Dragšič, Mitja Valenčič, Rene Mlekuž, Urška Hrovat and Alenka Dovžan, who might help the struggling team on the ski slope, got a completely different role. They will try their hand at fashion modelling, at the fashion show introducing the new, still mysterious supplier of the Slovenian ski Association. For all the visitors of the Vitranc Cup bringing with them a large enough Slovenian flag, and promising to use it to support competitors, free admission is promised.
