They agreed with the decision of the National Assembly which demands from the government not to sign CETA should some conditions remain unfulfilled. It is however obvious that the representatives of the economy have a more pragmatic, and the Unions more radical view on making agreements with the partners from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
The negotiations between the European Union and Canada on the CETA agreement which is abolishing customs and other trade barriers were concluded in 2014, and the agreement should be signed at this moment, but the public opposition is getting stronger, and the European governments demand certain adaptations.
Our Unions and employers agree that CETA should not lower the European standards, that it should be ratified by the national parliaments, and they oppose to the inclusion of the special court at which companies could sue the states.
