The Administrative Court has found the act to be a case of arbitrary action on behalf of the Corruption Prevention Commission (KPK), informs Jože Klavdij Novak, the attorney of Alenke Bratušek. Novak says the KPK case is now closed.
Alenka Bratušek is pleased that this "great farce" has come to an end. "Irreparable personal and political damage has been done to me," she stressed, adding that the only wish of the head of the Corruption Prevention Commission, Boris Štefanec, was to build his reputation as president with her case. Following the ruling of the Administrative Court, Bratušek says Štefanec must resign.
According to Bratušek the court found irregularities in all of the phases of the KPK procedure, which represent a violation of the law and constitution.
"It is obvious that Štefanec felt compelled, under the pressure of the media and public, to destroy and completely tarnish my name," added the president of the ZaAB Alliance of Alenka Bratušek.
Štefanec: We stand behind our decision
Boris Štefanec has already responded: he stands "firmly behind" the decision of the KPK. He is convinced that no human rights have been violated in the Bratušek case and sees no reason for him to step down. The KPK plans to appeal the ruling of the Administrative Court within the prescribed 15-day period, which starts today.
Štefanec added that the Administrative Court did not take into account i.e. ignored the rulings and decisions of the Supreme Court dating back to the 5th of February last year, even though they were pointed out by the commission.
