The government rejected the unions’ demands. Instead, the government presented their own offer to the unions. The negotiations will continue after the unions examine the offer.
However, the unions’ negotiation group said that the government’s proposal was “inadequate”. The Interior Ministry has confirmed that the two sides remain far apart, thus both sides will re-examine their negotiating positions.
Petrovič to stay on through negotiations
In late 2015, Public Administration Minister Boris Koprivnikar was pulled over and ordered to take a breathalyzer test. Koprivnikar was deliberately targeted, and it transpired that the incident was orchestrated by the head of the Trade Union of Slovenian Police Officers, Zoran Petrovič. An internal police investigation is still underway. According to a preliminary police report, the officers involved in the incident did conspire to target Koprivnikar. The two police officers who pulled him over have already been sacked. However, Petrovič will stay on through the negotiations.
