"After finishing the local road along Stjuža, the road leading to the bathing site is not needed any more. Therefore, we will have more green areas and rearrange the areas for sunbathing, so that bathers can have more privacy and feel more comfortable," she said.
There will also be easier access to the sea. The old concrete plateaus along the dock will be replaced with surfaces which will gradually drop to the sea: "The renovation plan also envisages a new children's playground, new lighting, rearranging the irrigation system and a Mediterranean horticultural layout."
At the peak of the season, in July and August, the site is visited by up to 2,000 people a day. "As managers we put effort in keeping the beach, which many say is the nicest spot on the coast, always clean and tidy. A proof of our success is the blue flag, a symbol of an environmentally pristine and well-arranged bathing sites."
Terme Krka also plans to fully renovate its Talaso complex in Strunjan. However, the initial plan met fierce opposition from the locals. A new, adjusted plan, is now waiting to be decided upon at the municipality council.
The renovation of the Strunjan beach will take place in the autumn and is predicted to last three months. Terme Krka has already acquired all the necessary environmental permits for the work to begin.
