According to a December public opinion poll, carried out by the Delo daily, the opposition SDS is backed by 13% of voters, exactly the same figure as in the previous month. In second place is the ruling SMC, whose support has fallen from 11,5 percent to 7,6 percent.
A party that has gained support is the SD Social Democrats Party, which received 7,1 percent in December and climbed into third place, overtaking the ZL United Left (5,1 percent). Other parties that have improved a little are the NSi New Slovenia party (3,1 percent) and the Pensioners’ Party DeSUS (2,6 percent). Another party that would make it into parliament is the Slovenian Nationalist Party SNS (1,8 percent), while the SLS People’s party still doesn’t have enough support to pass the parliamentary threshold (only 1,5 percent). Delo’s survey hasn’t registered any support for the Alliance of Alenka Bratušek ZaAB.
The December poll also shows a large number of people who would not vote for any of the political parties (17,1 percent).
Government support falling
The government is also losing its support. In November it received an average grade of 2,62, while in December the grade is 2,45. It’s clear from the survey that the government is currently supported by substantially less people, while at the same time the number of those who asses its work as negative is on the rise. The work of the National Assembly has also received poorer grades this month – an average grade of 2,41.
