The new electricity trader which will emerge next year will be by far the biggest in our country, providing power for 350,000 customers. Manager of Elektro Energija Bojan Kumer explained that mergers of suppliers, this one being the second this year, are understandable due to large interests of foreign companies in entering our market. Most likely other changes can be expected at the electricity market, as it is becoming more and more interesting for foreigners.
Consumers need not worry for at least five years, as the suppliers have made the commitment to keep the same price. In case of exceptional circumstances at the market the prices will remain unchanged for at least first three years, and during this time the price lists will remain separate.
The Consumers' Association is of the opinion that a large number of providers is not necessarily a better option, but a concentration could create a monopolistic position. A lot depends on consumers, who can keep track of the market and change their supplier. President of the association Breda Kutin warns that all kind of benefits and offers have been noticed which however have nothing to do with the price of electric energy, which will probably remain at the same level in near future, but the amounts on the money orders will most likely increase as a consequence of new, and also already finished yet overblown investments
