The series of events marking the occasion, intended for the wider public, opened with a park exhibition showing Brdo throughout its history and the "Treasures of the Castle Library" exhibition.
The castle, which is the central monumental building on the Brdo estate, has a rich history. It was first mentioned in the year 1446. The owners of the renaissance castle were members of the Ekgh or Brdo line of nobility. Throughout history the Brdo Castle has managed to preserve its uniqueness.
The castle has a number of historical milestones. In the eighteenth century the Zois family, important for the history of Slovenia and its literature, lived in Brdo. That is also when Brdo gained international recognition.
As part of the celebration two original books from the castle library will be presented for the first time - Dalmatin's Bible from the year 1584, and "The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola", from the year 1689. Visitors will also be able to see the building permission for the Brdo Castle from the year 1510.
