These words were written for the presentation of the award at the Locarno Semaine de la Critique for the film The Family, directed by Rok Biček. The feature, from the director best known for Class Enemy, condenses ten years in the life of the protagonist, named Matej, and the people around him into less than two hours.
The observational documentary had its world premiere at the 70th Locarno Film Festival, and it won over the jury in the Semaine de la Critique section, wining the top honor and 8000 Swiss francs. Just seven films are included in Semaine de la Critique, which makes the award an even bigger honor, wrote the Slovenian Film Center. SFC provided the financial backing for the film along with the Austrian Film
Institute, making the project the first Austro-Slovenian coproduction in the past twenty years.
The documentary was a production of Cvinger Film and the Public Fund for Cultural Activities; it was coproduced by RTV Slovenia.
