The first public alternating current charging station with two 22 KW sockets at the Slovenian coast will allow simultaneous recharging of two electric vehicles. The Municipality of Izola claims that Smart, and Reault Zoe will be recharged within an hour.

The use of charging station is free of charge and user-friendly. The director of Komunala Izola Denis Bele explained that the network of charging points would be expanded in future.

Both the municipality of Izola and Komunala intend to encourage the general public to use environmentally friendly products. According to Bele by installing of the charging station for electric cars they continue their commitment to sustainable and responsible operation, and follow the EU vision in reducing the traffic carbon footprint.

The municipality of Izola has five vehicles in their fleet, four of those hybrid vehicles. The Finance newspaper has once again awarded the Municipality of Izola the ECO Fleet Vehicles recognition for the absolutely smallest emission of carbon dioxide.
