The bill proposes EUR 40 for each month without the status. It will grant compensations to around 10,046 people, who managed to sort out their status in Slovenia. Interior minister Gregor Virant hopes, the law will pass as according to him Slovenia is fulfilling the EU demands.
Representatives of the erased have rejected the proposal as "insulting" and threaten with a law suit at the European Court of Human Rights. They want at least EUR 260 a month in compensation.
