The new regime of navigation is in line with legislation and the municipality’s spatial plans. It establishes entry and exit points for all kinds of vessels to be used in the lake, and also introduces fees. Pletna boatmen, which have their wharfs in the Zdraviliški Park Bled and in Mlino, have to pay a fee of 5.000 euros per year. Parish boats used for the needs of Bled Island will have to pay a yearly fee of one thousand euros. "There will be regular service lines to the island every full hour and every hour and a half. Permissions will also be given to plastic vessels. We have 55 plastic vessels, kayaks and SUPs intended for rent," said Jaka Bassanese, the head of the working group in charge of preparing the new rules.
By collecting the fees the municipality hopes to collect more than 100.000 euros per year. The money will be invested in the lake’s harbours and in giving the old coastline a new look. The Mayor of Bled, Janez Fajfar, is convinced that the new regime of navigation on the lake is a good solution. "It’s good because the situation on the lake and along the lake has calmed down, and the parish priest has undisturbed access to the island. On the other side the pletna boatmen are also pleased, as it has been agreed that a visitor can spend at least one hour on the island, if that is his or her wish," explained the mayor.
Recreational rowers will also be pleased as the Municipality of Bled has not introduced any fees for them. The new regime of navigation on Lake Bled officially takes effect on the 1st of May.
