Informative calculations show that the burden for some tradesmen and farmers will be up to 30 times higher than before. That’s why they have urged the government to take responsibility for the situation. Branko Meh, the head of the chamber stressed that the real estate tax would have harmful effects on the economy. He said that together with other taxes it would cause stagnation in entrepreneurship and lack of competitiveness on the market. The tax will however not affect only craftsmen and small entrepreneurs, around 130.000 people, but also 233.000 other employees in small businesses. Meh expects the Constitutional Court to annul the law or to make appropriate changes to the tax which would be fair for all citizens.
