A photograph of the stairs was published on the official profile of the Straža municipality two days ago, boasting that they have a new acquisition located near the local school. The stairs are intended for swimmers in the summer and pupils of the Vavta vas primary school, where the stairs will enable them to have outdoor classes. The announcement stated that the investment had been carried out by Pagras at the cost of 13 thousand euros.
But after the indignant response, the municipality gave an additional explanation that the execution of construction and carpentry works amounted to 9,058.68 euros, and apologized for the misunderstanding to Pagras. However, this does not include the cost of project documentation made by Spina, which issued an invoice for 10,460.78 euros. Thus, the total investment is worth more than 19 thousand euros.
As additional explanation, the municipality noted that the investment was prompted initiatives from citizens and teachers at the primary school. "Let's emphasize that it is not a private ‘entry-exit point’ but an object built and intended for public use for a large number of people. It enables outdoor school classes, it is of high quality and built for several decades of use. It is safe, statically stable and complies with all regulations,” added the municipality.
The municipality emphasizes that the construction required expert implementation, including concrete foundations. The contractor had been selected through a tender, and was chosen on the basis of the offered price and references.
